The story
The Museo del Sannio is the great museum of Benevento, with testimonies from every age of the Benevento area. Its roots date to 1806, when Talleyrand, Prince of Benevento, founded a first archaeological museum; the formal institution is of 1873. Its collections are housed above all in the cloister of the church of Santa Sofia, a Lombard jewel and UNESCO heritage.
