A small village of fewer than seven hundred inhabitants in central Irpinia, Sant'Angelo all'Esca bears in its coat of arms a tower, the memory of an ancient castle built on the highest point of the hill, flanked by two trees that recall the woods that once surrounded it. A variety of the Irpinian dialect is still spoken there.
What to see
The village, tiny and compact, holds its traditions more than great monuments. Every 29 December 'Lo pastiero' is held, a folk festival of the town in Piazza Dante Alighieri.
