The story
In the borgo's former cinema, two thousand five hundred objects line up the lost trades — barber, charcoal-burner, saddler, farrier — beneath the name of the karst plain of the Dragone.
The story
The Ethnographic Museum of the Piana del Dragone, at Volturara Irpina, was born in 1999 to gather and hand down the memory of the peasant and artisan civilisation of the town. It was conceived and created by Antonio Marra with the association 'Il Tiglio Onlus', and grew thanks to the donations of the inhabitants themselves: objects of home, of countryside and of workshop become the testimony of a world.
What to see
Set up in the municipal cultural centre — the former cinema of the town — the museum gathers about 2,500 objects arranged on two levels and divided by sectors: domestic, agricultural, artisan and educational activities. It is the material portrait of the daily life of peasant Irpinia, saved by the local families.
