The story
The National Archaeological Museum of Eboli, opened in 2000, tells of the middle Sele valley — always a crossroads of peoples and cultures, at the outlet of great transit routes. It is housed in the former convent of San Francesco, a complex founded in the thirteenth century, then town hall and school, damaged by the wartime bombing and recovered in the 1990s.
What to see
The exhibition route retraces the phases of human settlement in the Sele valley through the grave goods and finds of the local excavations. It is the museum that helps to read the history of the Salerno hinterland, between the plain of Paestum and the Apennines.
