The story
The 'Madonna with a Gun' (Madonna con la pistola) is the only work of Banksy in Italy: a stencil made by the famous British street artist in Naples, in Piazza dei Girolamini, around 2004. It depicts a Madonna whose halo is replaced by a gun, and alludes to the relationship between crime and religiosity; it is inspired by a Baroque sculpture by Ercole Ferrata.
